Tail light question.

I had a quick question about smoked LX tail lights. I found some on eBay that were just lenses and came with clips and caulking. Would this install onto my gt housing or would I need lx housing as well. Also is this easy, it seems like it should be, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

They should install on the LX housings. Not sure how hard it would be but im sure the old dum-dum is hard as a rock.

Its not too bad, I recently did 93 cobra lenses. You'll have to scrap and pull the old caulking. Don't heat the caulking, it will make it too soft. Once everything is nice and clean, lay in some new caulk. I used 3/16 black strip caulking that i had to get at a Auto Paint supply shop b/c no auto parts store carry it. Also, you can hit the inside of the new lenses with some bright silver paint to make them illuminate a little better.

Thanks, camaroeater, do you have any pictures of the lights on your car. I am trying to see what I like best and I am not a fan of any of the aftermarket lights that I have seen.

I don't have any pics. If you google the 93 cobra, there are tons of pics of them. 50resto sells just the lenses of cobra, Lx and the 86 taillights, maybe check those out. If you need a pic, let me know and I'll post one up.

Rich, if you do an "Advanced search" in the 5.0 section and search "Gt tail light lense swap" you'll find my old thread, which a couple people show pics of the lenses. I searched on it and its all still there.
