Default hood clearance

With my 351w, after I talked to a summit (first mistake) and browsing other forums, it was suggested I run a tall valve cover. I got them in and installed them, and they're massive. There's obviously over an inch or so of clearance with the rocker arms.

Ok so anyways, I'm going to be running the Trickflow R (not the box). After talking to Trickflow, I'll need a 1" spacer to work with those covers.

I'm thinking of getting the Cobra R hood from American Muscle. It supposedly has a 5" cowl in the center. Do you think I will run into clearance issues with this hood?

Shouldnt be an issue, hood wise, I run tall covers with a systemax, 4in cervinis hood. Now the issue might be the upper vs the covers, I had to run a 1" and a 3/8" together to get the upper to clear the covers.

My hood is 1.5 inchs over stock and it barely clears my 5/8ths nitrous plate and the R series intake. I'd think you'd be fine with a 5 inch hood.

Are you running a 351? I know I'll have less clearance since thats what mine is. And they said it was a 5" but it sure as hell doesnt look like it

Was there a lot of clearance between your intake and hood? I wanted a little taller covers so I could run the baffle. They turned out to be massive lol

Plenty because I did an EGR spacer delete so everything( TB and intake tube) moved in a bit, otherwise it might have been close between the intake tube's elbow and the hood where the 4" turns down to stock size.

Suggestion:
Why not lay some sort of a straight edge over from edge of bolt area of fender to fender and measure how high your intake etc. is over that, and that should take the guess work out of it.

Are you using the regular 302 engines?
You can use a set of engine mounts intended for a FOX body convertabile and lower the engine about .75" or get team Z solid engine mounts and do the same thing.
NAPA store should have the ragtop mounts......
