Hey, fellas! New guy here with a question to any tuners and pro engine builders out there. First of all, the last "race car" I owned was a 12 second "74 Nova, when 100 octane leaded gas was at every gas station you drove by (hope I just didn't date myself), and I've been into bikes the past 20 plus years. I'll be making a trade here in the next few weeks for a radical '90 Hatchback. Reinforced chassis, half cage, 383 stroker, Dart cast heads, 11:1, custom grind cam, 3200 stall, yada, yada. Anyway, the guy's engine builder suggests running a mix of 40/60 to 50/50 110 and 93 octane. Now, I haven't had a chance to talk with the builder yet, so I figured I'd ask here first. What's the difference between running, say, 50/50, and just straight 101? All the fuel calculators I've tried all come up with the same thing, anywhere between 99 and 101.5. I know the best answer is to call the builder, but like I said, I figured I'd ask here first.

sorry you lost me at "383"

haha.....

hey welcome ! im 41...so maybe you dated...but your not alone LOL

anyways, 2 things i'll comment on, that converter is gonna be way small, im gonna guess your car will weigh in about 2900 lbs ? a 3200 converter is gonna flash at about 3000 im thinking...even with your HP, now maybe im wrong, but i think you need 3500-4000

thats just me...and off a small description

on the octane, are you talking 110 turbo blue? leaded? mixing with unleaded 93 ?

maybe for cost , but i dont see why you wouldnt use this...

and no power adder ? unless its hot out id feel fine driving on 93, 11:1 doesnt warrant 100+ octane for street driving, but hes gonna tell you to err on the EXTREMELY conservative side...especially if he's warranty'ing anything

Well there are 383 sbf combos running around out there lol, 11:1 on cast iron heads would be iffy on 93 especially junk ethonal mixed, Since you have already used a fuel calculation there isnt much need to discuss that, the mix will insure that you dont suffer any detination /pre-ignition riding around town.

It is hard to say what a converter will flash at unless you know how it was built, tight, loose, nitrous etc.... That is what the machine at the custom converter shops are for and that only gives you an idea every application will be different with the exact same converter!

I would love for a pump like that to be around here, but i just settle for 100LL avgas.
