Is there such a thing...
As a small supercharger? Or turbos? Something that doesn't add 85+ % Increased in horsepower? I don't want my car to have past 400 horsepower. My happy range is between 350-400. Anything higher than that is just completely ridiculous and not necessary in my opinion. I don't race or quarter mile my car so I don't need all that extra power.
My question is though, do they sell smaller superchargers or turbos with less Hp gains? I've looked somewhat online but I can only find superchargers kits that almost quadruple your hp (Not what I need/want) not to mention dropping 5,000$ on one makes no sense (to me).

they still cost $$ even low power set ups. you can set your boost levels where you want with a pulley change or a spring change in the waste gate or with a boost controller to a point with the turbo. So yes you can make lower power. But even 800HP cars are controllable. that pedal under you right foot does that. so while you make more HP it dont mean you have to use it all the time.

yeah really.. wtf....... If you only want 350-400, get a v6 mustang and put a blower on that. you'll be in your "happy range" and even get better gas milage while enjoying cheaper insurance rates too.... lol....

get a 5-6 psi entry level kit, vortech sells them 1900 all day long , on a completely stock 5.0 it'll put rwhp to 275-300 being generous, add a h/c/i and you could be closer to the 350 rwhp but fuel system upgrades will be needed

Every lb of boost is 7% more HP. Your 99 4.6L w/ a 8lb non-inter-cooled kit will only make about 330-350ish hp. Dosnt hurt gas mileage until you stomp on it.
Dont know where u get 85%. You can make 85% more hp but it takes more than just a SC.
Once you start & feel the diff you will want all the HP you can get. Its addictive like sex & $$$$$, you always want more.
EDIT;
OOPS, i SEE YOU HAVE A V6. YOUR GONNA NEED ALL THE SC/TURBO YOU CAN GET TO MAKE 350 ISH +. Your better off upgrading to a V8 for the $$$$.

I never asked how to make less horsepower? Maybe you should learn to read. I even said I have Zero aspirations of racing or track times. In my opinion anything with over 400+ and plus horsepower is just unnecessary. I enjoy cruising and driving my car. And it's nice having the power there when I need it. For my style 350-400hp is plenty enough for me. Now don't be such a ***** huh? Not everyone has aspirations of having so much power.

No I'm alright. I like my 5.0. And if insurance was an issue I wouldn't have bought a mustang in the first place. And luckily for me, my 5.0 is a swap. So I have a V6 shell and Vin #, but with a 5.0 HO in it. So my insurance is dirt cheap regardless.

Thank you for actually politely answering my question. That sounds exactly what I would need. My budget is 2500$ tops and that's after labor. 1900$ + fuel system upgrades and labor I should be close to my budget maybe a little higher! Thanks!
