Default Best Heads for a 1988 5.0 302

Hi, I am looking for heads for my 88 5.0 302 mustang motor. The motor will be going into a 1975 Ford Ranger. I am looking for some heads that are cheap, yet reliable. My price range is from $0 to $1500 (for both). I have heard that GT40x heads are good. I will not be racing my truck but that doesn't mean I don't want to have fun!

There are some Edelbrocks that can be bought new and still be well within that budget.
If you have a basically stock 302 you won't want a head with an intake port over about 185cc, I'd stay with something even smaller than that.......

The engine will be completely rebuilt. I think I might go with TrickFlow. I was looking at some Edelbrock heads for $950 (on sale) and just as I was about to buy them, I decided not to because they had proved unworthy with other peoples cars. That was only one type though.

The TrickFlow are a bit pricey though!

I bought my 190 fast as cast heads for $1500. Lotta good heads out there in that price range. TF, AFR, edelbrock. I'd have to say trick flow is probably the most popular on the market for a ford small block.

I personally lean a bit toward AFR, but trickflow's are nice too

look at flow charts... the heads sometimes lie as far as flow goes with size. victor jr. and trickflows 185s are probably some of the best but make sure you get aluminum cause you can get cheap iron heads but if you are looking for a real upgrade and best for future mods aluminum is the way to go
