Default Finally hit the track this year....

I finally got to go to the track this year before it was shut down for the season. I am pretty happy with my results...I gained 3 tenths and 3 mph over last years run. Keep in mind this is a DD car that I drive over 100 miles a day and beat on it everyday...rear end has over 200k miles on it...block has unknown miles, standard bore but the rings have less than 10k miles on them... I also ripped part of my lower torque boxes pretty good to over the last couple months...this night didn't help at all.. I have the lower section is already as can be seen in the pics.....

ported gt40's
b cam
cobra 1.7's
explorer intake/tb, ported lower
ProM meter and 24lb injector
full exhaust, shorties, Hpipe

griggs racing TA/PHB
BBK springs
LCA's
full length SFC

26x10/15 MT slicks on 98 v6 wheels (front and rear)

stock t5 with TC rear with 3.55's and disc brakes (more weight)

Since the last visit I have
-swapped my rotating assembly from a mismatched (2 cast and 6 forged pistons...quick cheap build just bc...) to a matching 87-92 rotating assembly with fresh rings
- some more minor port work on the heads, ported the lower intake, the Pro M and 24lb setup (was a stock 70mm cobra/explorer 19lb setup)...
- went from 3.73's drum rear to 3.55's disc rear (TC rear with SN brakes)

no back seat, front sway bar...minor things here adn there but I dropped 125lbs or so off the car before I went to the track this year

I am very happy with the gains with the little mods and gear change...and I outran my buddies trick flow setup GT (worn out drag radials and full weight car) lol

Congrats, welcome to the 12's. Had to be a good feeling when you saw that. You and I trap about the same so if you could knock the 60ft down a tick more, mid 12's easy. BUT, that torque box won't be liking that lol. What are your plans for that?

The shortblock I had gotten from a friend and a spun brearing so when I went to replace the bearings 2 of the big ends were oblonged and caused clearance issues and binding... so with the budget I was on at the time I pulled 2 rods/pistons out of a 70s block and used them lol.... worked great minus a little vibration lol

As for the torque box I am going to weld on the bottom plate that you can get in some kits.... I make my own kits though....

I was expecting the 12 sec slip from more time on the slicks since last ywar that was my firstand only pass...i was expecting a little more on time but not the 3mph jump... that improvement with the drop in gear excited me though.

To pick up 3 mph even at those speeds you were making A LOT more H.P. than you used too, just remember what you did........

I know what I did lol

Making up for the gear change is one thing but then making going the 3mph faster also... yes sir! lol. The fresh rings helped some.I would say probably 10 hp from the fresh hone and rings....then 10-15 from intake porting....and another 5 or so from 24lb and ProM meter..

Still curious on how my hp it would take to make up the gap for the difference of 3.55 and 3.73's....
