Default New Guy and 1990 GT build up

New member here with first mustang build. Just purchased a 1990 GT 5spd super cheap, though now after taking stock of the problems $1600 may have been too much..

Also rebuilding this car's engine along with another engine that's getting a mild build.

Car has so so paint and and ok body with minor dings but straight overall. Has 145kmi and needs serious love.

Motor from the car (engine #1) has stock heads, has B303 cam, stock lifters, stock valve sprigns, Jacobs Pro Street Ignition box, MSD coil, elec fan, Explorer Intake, BBK70mm TB and spacer, BBK shortys, full 2.5" flowmaster/H-pipe, lowered 1.5" Eibach, weld drag lites (just got ponys to swap), pro 5.0 shifter, new clutch.

I've currently ordered new interior carpet, waiting on seat upholstery until I see how bad foam is, have all the interior parts out. New rubber doors/hatch/sunroof/windows/hood bumps.

I've replaced the ac compressor, all the lines, left the evap and condenser as the system held 28" vac all night, recharged and nice cold air now!

Just did new radiator and inner tie rods, needs new front struts it seems - haven't driven it very far.

Motor from the car (engine #1) developed a rod knock so pulled it to do the mains and rod bearings if the crank checks out. Checked the crank and looks like it needs to be machined. Scarring on the journals, in the pics. So now this one needs to go to the shop and have it honed and checked out. Would like to reuse the pistons/rods/crank and just rebuild with new rings/bearings etc.. Put the Bcam back in and call it good. Needs heads really but money is going toward the other engine, cheap GT40s would be nice but I don't want to put any money into them either. I have ordered a set of Ford Racing valve springs to replace the stockers since they will be floating with this cam. I can use them on gt40s if I find any.

Also building another motor (engine #2)on the stand. Basic mild rebuild, hope to use the factory TRW pistons if the machine shop says the block can just be honed. Block, crank, pistons/rods still at the shop as of today, haven't heard yet. Looking to put an Anderson N412, TFS1, or Comp 270 cam in this one, I have a set of Edelbrock Perf RPMs to go on - 2.02 valves check PTV and flycut as needed, springs they list for these heads are super heavy at 420lbs wow! Tubular GT40 intake, 70mm BBK TB, probably need larger injectors too.

Blue valve covered motor out of the car. You can see the mains are wiped and showing copper.. Crank is scarred too so she's getting dropped off when I pick up the other block and crank.

I'd say that's a pretty awesome deal for $1600.

Car looks clean and straight and the air works, you're way ahead of the game, IMO.

I always liked the look of Draglites on GTs. Congrats!

I just paid almost double for this a little over a week ago, although it's a one owner, bone stock, unmolested survivor, so I didn't mind paying a premium.

I think you got a good deal.

Thanks! Your car looks pretty straight though and T-tops will be cool as heck for summer cruising. 5spd car?

Looks like I'll do a basic rebuild on the stock head B303 cam motor and then maybe do a .030 over on the edelbrock/gt40 motor.

Toss the Bcam motor in just to roll while I'm building the healthy motor.

Carpet and all kinds of resto stuff coming in the mail soon..

Just found some ponys with so so 235/50 tires for $150 so looking to sell the drag lites to pay for some of the extras. Going for more handling than drag strip but I do like the look too.

First few pics are from the Craigslist ad since I don't have any pics of it after I got her home. Hope to get some soon. Car was covered in mud underneath from the dirt roads I presume but no rust after power washing it, thank goodness.
