2000 is WAY too fine for what I'm seeing... I'd start at 1000-800 and work up. Truth be told, you'll probably spend more money on the sand paper to "fix" it than you did the paint.

Rattle cans are somewhat good learning exercises. Nothing wrong with learning but I'd say your result is pretty much the expected one. Therefore I say you did fine if you're happy with it.
