Fuel Pressure Isues
Ok Folks, so I just bought a 1990 mustang GT. It has been sitting for about 10 years. I brought it home and and dropped the fuel tank drained the gas, changed out the fuel pump, changed the fuel filter, and pulled the injectors out cleaned them all and got them flowing again. The problem I’m having is when I cycle the fuel pump it pumps up to 40lbs I crank the car and it will idle and when I give it the gas pressure drops below 20lbs and stalls. Do y’all think it could be the fuel pressure regulator. I didn’t change it and everything else was in really bad shape.

Yea definitely sounds like the fpr. As vacuum falls off with throttle it should allow more fuel threw the regulator. If its seized up the pressure will fall off with throttle. First sign is that you have 40 psi at idle, it should only be around 33-35 at idle.

I figured it out today. Changed the regulator and it did not help at all. So I dropped the gas tank again and the fuel pump was stoped up. Cleaned it and washed out the gas tank again and she run great for about 15 min. Then bammmmm fuel pump stoped up again. So I just ordered a new tank. That should take care of it. Thanks for the reply!!!!
