you may get around $1500 for a v1 s-trim, which would pay for your shortblock
i did have to re-tune mine when i took my v3 off, but it did run without a re-tune. It was just ran a bit rich.
edit: by the way, that is really nice car.

I blew up my old engine a few years ago, you can typically find 302's in decent shape for cheap if you look around and the swap isn't that bad to do. I found a rebuilt bottom end, assembled for mine for 700 dollars and it's been in my car for almost 10 years now.

yeah i would go ^ route or find an exploder/mountaineer engine. Swap the parts like the oil pump, pan, etc... off of the current engine and then turn around and make money on the extra set of heads and intake. Those heads of yours may be cracked anyways.

Thanks for all the advice. Yesterday I learned at the shop it appeared the motor was bored out without enlarging the pistons. Motor is going to a machine shop today so I will know more details later. Do you guys advice staying away from a 347? If I go big I was thinking of saving up for a ATK 331 short block which are refurbished. I've also been looking at Tristar motors, and wholesale-engines.com.

i don't know about any of those places. Personally, I bought a used engine and put bearings and rings in it. I still have around 135 compression on each cylinder after being supercharged for around 7 years and 80k+ miles. Engine still doesn't use oil between changes.
The thing about going up in displacement, is the parts you really need to buy along with it. Heads, cam, intake, etc... and i don't know why you would stay away from a 347, unless you are going to boost it. In that case, I probably wouldn't go up in displacement anyways. the low end grunt gained from the stroker displacement will likely be traded off for less reliability out of the stock block on the top end in my opinion.
If you go aftermarket block and boost it, by all means, the bigger the better
