90 millimeter Lightning SVT Mass air final tune

I have a 1990 mustang with a blower, GT 40 heads, intake, cam ect... Besides boring out the cylinders my cars engine was recently rebuilt. I got a custom tune amounting to 422hp. The tuner said my mass air was pegging out. He recommended either a 90 mil SCT BA 2600, or Diablosport Mafia MAF extender. I currently have a 90 mil 01-04 lightning mass air housing and sensor which is identical to the SVT 03-04 Cobra. I have read the mass air set up I have can support up to 500 HP. Does my current mass air set up on a 1990 fox need to be upgraded? To my knowledge my mass air sensor will work but must have MAF extender in order to not run lean at high RPM's. My plan is to get the SCT BA 2600 and will re-tune the car. Any advice is much appreciated.

with my software, i can tell if the meter is maxing out. I assume his can too.

i believe part of the issue may be the difference in the blower set-ups in your car and a cobra. I am assuming you have a centrifugal.

The maf can be scaled in the tune, but it some work for a tuner to do. It may be cheaper to go ahead and buy a meter. also, whatever he is tuning with may not be capable of that i guess.

another thing to consider is, there are a lot of fake lightening meters out there. Same thing with the old 42lb ford green tops that haven't been made in years.

Yes I have a old V1 Vortech centrifugal super charger putting out about 7-8 PSI. I purchased the SCT 2600 as well as the SCT Adapter. I had a Innovate air fuel gauge put in. The car was driven very hard bouncing off the rev limiter not by me after and oil shot out of my dip stick. I got a KNN crank case breather since. However after the hard drive I can no longer bring my rev's under throttle past 4900-5000 with out the engine popping as if I either don't have spark or fuel. I was about to get the final tune done. My next step is to gap new plugs between 32-35. I really hope It's just a matte of a bad plug. I purchased Auto light 103 plugs. My oil pressure is good as well as coolant temp. My motor just gives up after 4900. In the past I rarely brought it to 6,000 but when I did it sounded and pulled great. I only have less than 2,000 miles on a $4,500 rebuild. Thanks for your reply

yeah, i would make sure the plugs and stuff are good. it gets expensive to find those things on the dyno.

103 may be too cold. they may try to foul on you if you idle a long time.

i run the 2600 as well. it is a pretty good piece.
