2017 Roushcharged GT gear "thunk"
Hey all, I just bought my first Mustang, 2017 Roushcharged GT and I am new to this site. Has anyone else noticed that obscene thunk when putting gear to 1st, then every shift till at least 4th gear? I'm not ******* the motor, or rushing the shift. I have tried to modify my timing on the clutch, shifter and changing RPMs to find the sweet spot and still nothing. I'm looking for any advice or pearls of wisdom from my fellow Mustang owners. I almost feel like I need to take it back to the dealer and ask WTF. Thanks all!

Does it have the Roush short throw shifter as well? It wouldn't necessarily make too much difference but could highlight it a little more. That mechanical clunk sound is going to be pretty much "normal" for this transmission and part of the cool factor of owning a standard transmission. Ever notice in the movies how much sound the transmission makes when they show the guy slamming the gear lever down another gear to take off in a chase? Well, there you go.

I just bought a 2017 GT, performance package and I've noticed the same thing. It's only on the upshift, it's more noticeable from 1st through 4th. Just normal driving, not ******* it either. I can push the clutch in (all the way to the floor, 1/2 way, it doesn't matter). I can wait between shifts, doesn't matter. I push in the clutch, no noise, I upshift and I hear a slight thump in the back. I can't feel anything strange, it almost sounds like a little bass thumping from a stereo, but it's not. I'm wondering if it's "normal".

I was at a ford dealership when I last replied. I took a mustang out to see if another would do it, it did. I rolled up, pushed in the clutch, shifted to 2nd and thump. I don't know if this is normal or an issue but it's not just us.

From what I've been told from the shop foreman, this is possibly due to cold TF fluid and or low TF fluid. He says that if its still there after 5000 miles change fluid. Then after another 2000 miles if its still there bring it in. Normal on the new rides.
