Default Consumer Reports Reliability Rating on 5.0 2015

I have a 2006 GT and am considering looking for a 2015 or 2016 GT (like the looks of new models). But Consumers Reports lists the 2015 model as one to stay away from.

Anyone have an opinion on the reliability of the 2015 GT?

John

I saw that too and went for 2016. Apparently the dashboard electronics are a major upgrade.

In 2016 they changed the climate and electronics, I believe, as well as added an automatic "window crack" when you open and close the door. I believe a lot of owners of 2015 Mustangs had their windows crack, break or explode when slamming the door. 2016 Mustang windows go down about a half inch when you use the door handle.

On Consumer Reports website, these seem like the biggest concern areas for 2015: Climate System and Body Hardware. My guess is that the Body Hardware part has to do with the windows breaking.

Ford dumped the Microsoft Sync system after 2015 and went with non-Microsoft Sync 3. Perhaps the glitchy MS system was the cause for the poor rating on the 215 model? Surprised to hear that Ford omitted the small window lowering feature when opening the door. My 2013 does this (about 1/4") as do I think all of the S197 based Mustangs.

A friend of mine bought a 2015 new when they came out. I even got to test drive the car. It's obviously been a few years since then but I would have sworn that car had the window drop feature when I opened the door?

ANY complaint (major or minor) counts in CR ratings;
If someone told CR that not having the window drop function with their year car would count as a body hardware 'issue', by CR standards.

Sync not working would also lead to another 'not recommend'

In my opinion CR has been defective with their reporting since the 1960s. 'Nuff said?

My 2015 GT PP has had zero reliability issues. Overall it has been the best car that I have ever owned.

annoying little things....
But I could find fault in the annoying Ford Synch. Every time it "finds" my phone it has to rattle on about the fact that it found it and that 911 isn't available.

Also, the backup camera hakes a few seconds to display. It should not be any longer that 1/30th of a second (one video frame to synch up).

I should be able to punch a new radio station in while backing up. It doesn't need to change the backup video display to do that. Crummy "single-thread" software coding.

Last issue were the Perilli P-zero tires. They would chatter when cold under even easy acceleration in first gear. I thought that to be a danger when pulling out into traffic on even 50-degree mornings. This started to happen after around 5000 miles. I then bought the best BFG tires and they are perfect.

Default I have a 15 GT..

Car had 9000 miles on it when I got it. Have had no issues worth complaining about. It does do the passager side window thing sometimes. Drops about an half an inch then goes back up. I just drop it an half and leave it like that for a few minutes. Actually been a couple of months since the last time..lol...mine is a GT Premium. Its been a great running car.

CR is crap. I stopped reading them years ago and have NEVER relied on them for car stuff. It's like going to Motor Trend for refrigerator ratings.
