Wheel Alignment issue
 

2015 gt premium 33k miles

ok i had my oil changed at ford yesterday and they notified me of bad tire wear on the inside of my tires and said it need an alignment. but i could not do it due to time constraints .
i took it to ntb this morning being they are about the only one open on sunday in the covington la area and they could not figure out how to get it aligned. they was truthful and and let me know this was the first of the newer mustangs they have tried to put in alignment. he said he could only find one adjustment and and when he corrected it , the front was thrown out .
i respected the honesty and now i guess ill have to leave my car at ford for the to do it . has any one else had this issue .

There are one of two reasons the car wears on an edge, toe and camber.

Not all cars have a camber adjust, which is why people buy camber kits for
their cars so there is an adjustment. These cars do not have a camber
adjustment. You need to buy kits for just camber, or ones with castor adjustment
as well.

They use toe adjustments to try and offset the camber wear, but that doesn't
always work, or last. For inner wear, they'll toe it in a little more than spec
to try and offset that. You can end up with both inner and outer wear if
toed to far in.

I live in Covington and use Banner Ford for all my service and have never been disappointed by them. Hard to believe they can't do an adjustment, perhaps the "regular" alignment guy doesn't work on the weekend. The rear suspension is easily adjustable and once it is adjusted you have to do the front. All 4 wheel alignments start with the rear wheels and finish with the front.

Interesting, I've had 2 shops try adjusting my pony & just the rear was changed. The shops were silent about the problem? I had camber bolts installed at Ford and will inquire concerning camber adjustment for the front wheels, thanks for the heads up!

I recently had reason to have the rear tires off the car. It had the OEM tires with about 17k miles on the clock. The inner edge of the tires were showing cord all the way around. Needless to say, I was very surprised by that. I had new tires installed and took the car to a local suspension shop to have a four wheel alignment done. They found the front end was in spec. The rear end, on the other hand, was off on camber and toe in, both in a direction that would abnormally wear the inner edges of the tires. They also found that the thrust line of the rear tires was not in line with the car to the tune of .44 degrees to the right. It wasn't anything I could see while driving the car but once they got things back in spec, along with brand new rubber, and it's a brand new car again. The difference is night and day. The car just feels way more secure than it did before. Now it just remains to be seen how the tires wear this time.
