Seriousness of a 5.0 being in the '11

Just want to know if people have any truth or somewhat rumor articles. i want to trade in my 2008 for a 09 and below gt500 but if they put a 5.0 in the new one, I think i could look past the fugly rear end of the 2010.

search "coyote engine" on google, that'll be the best info you can find on it.

there will not be no confirmation by ford any time soon. if ford would do such a thing it will most likely hurt the sales of the 2010. i think it is a strong possibility that the 5.0 will be in the 2011, but we will not know for sure until ford announces it.

just wondering... why would Ford put an engine that is older than over 1/2 the people in this Forum into a new car?

I just don't see how an antique engine belongs in a new car in the year 2011. Would love to know what advantages an old engine has over the 4.6.

It would ba an OHC 5.0, not a pushrod.

sponkey21 05-18-2009 09:02 AM

Yeah, this would be a 100% brand new engine, not the same 5.0 from the Fox body days.

DOHC 5.0, hopefully not a stroked 4v too.

My son works at the Roush facility where they do prototype instrumentation. He has personally seen the 2011 GT with the SOHC 5.0 3v engines in them. HP is said to be ~400, but the final calibrations have not been signed off yet. No EcoBoost for the Mustang yet.

all the rumors i've seen were that the 5.0 would be a dohc 4v, but hey. 400hp is 400hp (fingers, toe, eyes, legs crosses and holding breath!)

Here it is!!!

Ford exec confirms the existence and intent to use the Coyote in the Mustang. I just pray to God that it will not be some stupid Boss 302 special edition. Give it to me in the GT. Ecoboost would be cool, but all I care about is the 5.0!

Obviously this is not "OFFICIAL" because it is a Ford of Australia exec commenting, and not a press release or anything (I don't believe), but it is as good as can be got right now. Great news! 400hp 5.0 in a GT.... *drool* I just hope we get new 6-speed trannys all around, too.
