Whipple and Roush

Or... getting the Whipple HO kit and get a pulley that only pulls 7-8psi... From what I heard the whipple tune allows you to run pulleys within a certain range and the tune will be fine. This will leave you right around 435rwhp (members of the whipple crew have confirmed that). And then you have a much more upgradeable system that runs more efficient plus the roush is only a 1.8L where the whipple is a 2.3L system... I personally will be getting the Whipple HO kit and running a 7-8psi pulley. That way I know if I ever want to go crazy with the system I can, but if I don't I'm in a perfectly safe range.

Shane,
Nobody is hating on you. Just sharing experiences. I hope you are happy with whatever you get.
I can speak from experience. I thought xxx would be enough, then just a little more, a little more, infinity. I was absoluetly sure about my decision too.
LAX,
Check out Tousley Ford in MN. An FRPP Whipple HO is $6400 shipped. All Whipples drop ship from Whipple in CA.
It's alot cheaper to get the HO kit from the start instead of adding the big boost kit later.

Yeah i didn't mean you specifically on that, just in general any time you ask about a roush charger someone jumps in and says they are junk and can't be upgraded. Sorry if you thought that was aimed at you, i didn't mean it to be. and tousley is the shiznit on price for the whipple if that is what you want.
Lol, i am ready to order my R90 tomorrow. Just to prove myself right or wrong, i am going to start a thread talking about ordering the R90. see how many comments it takes before someone says it's junk get a whipple.

I know a bunch of you all are all going to claim that the stock engine with it's cast crank, cast rods and pistons not to mention a compression ratio above what you would use for a supercharger can handle the 550 hp... No one day the pistons will swap holes before exiting your block. I know the 550 is crank hp not rear wheel hp, but it's still more then that bottom end can take. A lot of us with Ford Lightnings been there done that. It will hold the 435 hp but not much more.
Okay, let all the people with a buddy running 500-600 hp everyday for years start the attack.
Good Luck
JE
PS: There is a reason the 435 hp kit gives you the 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty.

I personally would not risk it which is why I am going with the Edelbrock or Roush kit. Either is more than enough power for me
