Yes, it is easier to trade a car in, but yes, you will take a good sized hit.

Dealership wanted to give me $5500 for my 97 M3. Sold it privately 3 days later for $9000.
not always it just depends on who your dealing with, for whats on the table and how good of talker you, yourself are. I mean i traded in a car that i got more than what Kelly Blue Book said it was worth and got the car i was about to buy for less than what KBB said it was worth. But 9 out of 10 times your right. But at least for myself i've never lost more that 2k in a trade-in before. So selling outright for me hasn't really occurred. 2kish i lose? Ehh idc. Dealer has to make some money lol

^ haha

ya and i got it pretty cheap (32000 and new its ~55000) so its already lost the majority of its value. and i called in the guy was all excited i told him i might be trading in my nitemare. he said he has a hard time getting his hands on one, he got even more excited when i told him it had less than 10000 miles on it. so we'll see where it goes lol

Dammit I had a long post and it got deleted. Main point was there is ALWAYS potential to get more on the private market than in a trade, simply because the dealer is selling on the private market too, so they have to make a buck back.

You might do a bit better considering the rarity of the car.

Good luck

sorry to say i didnt end up getting the mustang

I talked to the dealer and they are trying to find me a 2011 5.0, Black, Coupe, leather, sync, and prefferably 3.73 gears.

let me just say, that car is so badass lol felt just as fast as my 05 with the vortech. Lots of power low end and the sound is amazing i was smiling for like an hour after test driving it. Ford did a great job on the new 5.0

I'm not getting where magazines and forum posters are saying it sounds that great. Don't get me wrong, the engine sounds fine under throttle. However, after having the Roush O/R on my 2010 GT, the 2011 exhaust sounds like it came off a Lincoln Towncar -- way too quiet. Everyday, I check for the next muffler delete to come out . . .

well well i forgot to post apparently that after talking about trading in the truck for the 5.0 they appraised my truck at $20,000......i paid $32,000 for it 8 months ago. Last monday they called and said $21,000 is the best they could do. They called me again right now and said they would work on finding a buyer and if they can find someone then we might be able to get closer to $30,000 which is about what I told them I wanted for the truck. He also said "Mustangs arent going anywhere, I dont know if the timings off or what...." basically saying they really want me to buy one so hopefully I can make a deal on one pretty soon.

Im not sure if its a sure thing, but my uncle said a few times that he wants to buy the truck for $30,000 so I think I will call him tonight and see what he wants to do. And if he says he cant right now then ill have to make an ad or wait till galpin calls me with a more realistic offer

No way would I take that kind of beating on the truck...which I see you, too, are not willing to do. I think the right thing to do here is take your time. Find the right buyer for your truck and then go and pounce on a new 5.0.

Good luck!
