87, 89, or 93 Octane

You can use 87 octane, and it should be okay. According to the owners manual, I quote:
"Octane recommendations:
Your vehicle is designed to use “Regular” unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. Some stations offer fuels posted as “Regular” with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended"
On the part about "premium" octane (91 or 93 octane), I quote:
"Octane recommendations (5.0L V8 engine)
Your vehicle will run normally on 87 octane regular fuel without
damaging the engine, but premium fuel with an octane rating of 91
(R+M)/2 or higher is recommended for best overall performance.
For Shelby GT500 octane requirements, see the Shelby GT500
Supplement."

Thanks for all the replies. I've been running 93 and getting great gas mileage as well. I drive 100 miles round trip to work. I've been getting 24.5MPG during the week per tank. On the weekend I'm getting 16 and driving it like I stole it.

I went to the gas station the other day and filled up my tank on 93 octane (we do not have 91 octane).
Price per gallon i paid was $2.72 ($2.719).
I pumped in about 13gallons or so and it cost me $36.82
Right next to 93octane was 87octane at $2.50 ($2.499) and if I used that, I would have only save a few dollars.
Bottom line: premium fuel is not that much more expensive than the low-ball 87octane.

I have no clue what my rear diff is, I am thinking it might be a 3.55; otherwise, my RPMs would have been a considerable bit lower whwn I was going down the freeway at 70MPH
Octane count did'nt make a lick of difference in MPG; burning a whole tank of 87octane and then switching 93octane did absoluetly nothing for my fuel economy.
Driving style, however, did make a big impact. Choosing highways over stop&go streets bumped me up from 16MPG to 23MPG.

You can run any of those octanes with no problem. However, the gains from the higher octanes on the stock tune are barely perceptible, if noticeable at all. You'll feel better gains on a custom 87 octane tune than on 93 octane on the stock tune and it only gets better with the higher octane custom tunes.

There are actually tunes for 87, 89, 91, 93 octane to maximize fuel economy?
I only heard of tunes for performance for each respective octane rating, never knew there were tunes for each rating for fuel economy as well.
Which tuners have them? And which tuner handhelds would they be written for?
(SCT, Diablo, etc.?)
