Damn right it is, seeing as Ford OPENLY said they planned to put DI on it down the road.

I read somewhere that Ford said the cost/benefit of having DI when they designed the engine just wasn't enough to warrant it initially. However they apparently left the option open.

Horrible article too, *barf*

Silly article from little man feeling awfully self important. Following his logic never buy today what you can put off buying tomorrow.

Don't get so upset. Blow it off it's just someone bragging about no knowledge of his subject matter. I just thought it was interesting nothing more.

It's certainly an interesting read. Aside from the 5.0 being a first year engine that's been fast tracked by over a year to make production time lines, I'm adding this to my list of reasons to wait for the 2012's or 13's.

Who didn't see DI as a future in this motor! Hell GM is making a new DI V8 for their cars by 2013 its only logical that Ford would upgrade for the 50th anniv Mustang in 2014.

The 2011 Coyote does have some engine innards that re not fully maxed out, there is no denying that. Yes, the '11 Coyote should have come with forged crank con-rods, yes, the engine should have been direct injection, Yes, the engine should have come with better pistons, but hey, for 2011, Ford engineers accomplished all of their engine objectives without having to add Ecoboost or all of that other stuff which right now would have cost a whole lot more.

In the future, when Ford does put in direct injection and forced induction (ecoboost or a supercharger), I am sure those upgrades will be available to hop-up a '11 Coyote to those standards (although, doing so would require a rebuild and replacing the heads with the direct injection heads).
