With most aftermarket longtube headers that use high flow cats or off road pipes it is necessary. The car is used to seeing a certain temp and flow coming out of the cats and when it sees something different it will throw a code. This is common on most newer cars.

also, I'm curious how this setup compares to your race system? I'm definitely interested in purchasing one of the SW setups, but what are the major performance differences between the retro catback and the one listed as 2011 Mustang GT 3" Dual Catback Exhaust - Turbo - Aggressive?
