supercharging the new 5.0
#21
Most do not go forced induction because Ford announced that the '11 Coyote has too high of a compression ratio and has weaker con-rods (i.e. they are not forged con-rods).
Ford does have a Ford approved supercharger that you can add on, but its boost level is really low to not stress those weaker con-rods and also to account for the already very high 11:1 compression ratio.

I definitely agree gconn, that the con-rods are the issue. However, I greatly disagree with your estimate of 450hp. I know someone running over 600 on them, frequently tracks the car, and is doing just fine.

I know some guys are pushing 600hp through them, but that doesn't mean its safe. These rods break on stock engines if we really want to get technical.

I'll let ya know. Cuz I'll be there in about 48 hours. And when I get a dual fuelie, I'll blow past it. And f*ck it, they go, they go. With the amount of money I saved over a ZR1, for this amount of power, I'll make it.

The stock pistons are a joke if you're supercharging, good luck with it though.

I have my diamonds already. Just waiting for a comp cam. Gonna do'em both at the same time .... Then I can run even more boost! .... Is this 5.0 envy? It's OK. HaHaHa . I understand, I would be too.

After reading the 5.0 is pulling high 10s with a gear change, minor mods, and a 100 shot of nitrous I am kinda wishing I had the funds to pick one up.. I get A-plan too!
