2011 5.0 performance Parts

When looking at everything.....the 5.0 is the better / technical car. The only problem is learning how to work on it. The SS 6.2 is basically the same basic V8 for the past 60 years....I could do that for the most part blind folded. The new coyote 5.0 is wicked bad *** modern, but I don't see any reason to open it up. The cams (no need to change) seem to be intimidating and the waterpump appears odd.....shouldn't be a problem.
What I'm seeing is to install Stainless steel exhaust, 4.10, Rousch 525 hp supercharger, SCT or Steeda or Livenois tune, 2 inch lowering kit and a set of rims. That should be in the 11's with 26" slicks.

I also looked at a new 2SS today......Hugger Orange just about fully loaded....minus hurst shifter, stripes and the high end stereo. I thought the car was awesome.......gave me a nice WOW factor.....had Brembo's all around with the....I think 20" painted rims. It's a tough choice. one thing the 5.0 has going for it.....is that it weighs in a lot less: 5.0 3604 -- SS 3860.....big difference. Nice car, but I think the 5.0 is the way to go.

5.0 mag just printed a story on the new steeda sport, a basic 5.0 gt with steedas intake, sport springs, hood, and 3.73s. there could be other stuff but its minimal, like floor mats, 20" wheels, ext. with the rev limiter raised, it ran 11.969, thats with full interior, no power adder, no cams. i would say that the 5.0 would pull consistant 11s with just alittle more than what that package has easy.

We'll now that I'm sure the 5.0 is the proper choice........next month I hope to order....my special friends gave me the ok.......we'll see
What usually voids the warranty......concerning the mods mentioned on this thread?
Not that I care......I accept this as soon as I turn my first bolt. The 08 I have now hasn't had a problem.......although it's all stock with 25,000 miles. Just as long as I drive the car with-in reason and don't trash it down the track every weekend from March to November, but at least once a month........it should be fine.

On stock Pirelli 19s. Jack and spare in the trunk. The car was just as I drive it every day.
I saw a stick car there yesterday run several 11.9s on stock Pirellis also. He had Tune, JLT CAI, O/R X-Pipe, aftermarket LCAs and UCA, and lowering springs.
Getting one of these cars into the 11s won't be hard.

Since you aren't really changing any hard parts, you should be fine RE: warranty. The tune is honestly the biggest change you're making. Intake/slicks aren't going to void anything, and you can just reflash to stock tune if you have any problems.
And it seems that a tune/intake/slicks alone will get you into 11s. As long as you're a good driver. That, you can't buy parts for... lol

11 seconds is a very high goal to shoot for, and all of the above suggestions are great, but I would not say you cannot stress enough to get the best/stickiest tires you can. Obviously if you are looking to run at the strip only to get into the 11's, you have more of a choice of what to use. But tires, in general, can be one of the most important 'mods' you can do to a car.

If you want consistent 11's. I would do our cold air and tune, a set of Kooks long tubes, with a set of drag radials and use 3.55 or 3.73 gears. That should get you consistent 11's with no problem.

Although not published yet, another magazine with one of their drivers also went 116+mph with that same basic package. Our best MPH prior was 115.5.
