I had X-plan, 1000$ closeout, and 750 in-the-mail rebate. I have a base 5.0 6MT with 0 options and it was 26000, or right around 27000 out the door. I forget the exact numbers as it was a few months ago.

Thanks for all the input. Seems like there are some dealerships working out pretty good deals (or at least the incentives are/were available to help on prices).

As odd as it sounds my next car will either be:
Stripper 5.0 6mt ~$28k OTD ~$435/month
Base WRX 5mt ~25k OTD ~ $302/month
2012 Focus ST 6mt ~ 24K OTD (price not released) ~$283/month

I currently own a 2001 S10 4x4 w/ 140k on the odo. I use for moving stuff/lawn mowing (which this year was probably my last for mowing). Its probably worth 3k-4k private party and gets about 11mpg city (sucks).

2003 Focus SVT w/ 75k on the odo. Probably worth 4k private party.

I own both of the above outright. If I get anything but the mustang I would have both cars as trade in/down payment (probably sell private party as trade in offers are usually ridiculous). ~ roughly 8k + I would probably put down 1K extra = 9k down.

If I got the mustang I would end up keeping the SVT for winter duty, so down payment would be ~5k

I realize that list is ALL over the automobile map but all 3 cars have their positives and negatives

Mustang: +
I have ALWAYS wanted a mustang. My first true love was the termi!
V8...now with the 5.0 for 1k in engine mods were talking close to 400whp, and amazing off the line torque and the sweet sound that comes with it
....its a MUSTANG!

Mustang: -
RWD = a PITA in N. IL Winters.
Would probably keep the SVTf for winter use which means less money on trade in/down payment, and a higher monthly payment.
Insurance probably more than Focus or WRX
Price: Cheapest I could probably get one is 27-28k for base
Least practical of the 3...2 doors and 2 back seats that are essentially unusable. I am 6'2 and the 5.0 I drove I had the seat all the way back against the rear seat)

WRX: +
AWD = no problem regardless of season
Hatch...After owning my SVTf I have become a hatchback guru
I also love the STI's widebody that the WRX now wears
Probably the most practical of the 3 (minus the fuel economy and insurance)

WRX: -
Fuel economy is not that hot for a 4 cylinder (thanks mostly to the Parasitic AWD + 5 speed)
Have not spec'd a WRX for insurance but its probably up there near stang

Focus ST: +
Hatch and its a focus which should improve on all the things I dislike about mine (mostly power output, being 250whp turbo 2.0L)
Should be the cheapest of these 3 (price not out but if its over 25k I would take either of the above cars)
Fuel economy... my guess should be mid 20's city and mid 30's highway
Insurance should be the cheapest of the 3
4 door hatch so good usable space

Focus ST: -
Potentially the price... But they would be stupid to price it too much beyond the cobalt SS, the MS3 and the WRX which are its direct competition.
FWD... FWD+ high HP = bad combo. I am guessing 0-60 will probably be mid 5 seconds which is not bad at all, but adding power will result in even more wheel spin

I am 24 and just bought a house so a very large part of my income goes to that. I am going to look for a room mate to help defer my home ownership costs. The 400-450 a month I get for rent should cover my car payment.

I am realistically not going to pull the trigger till mid to late 2011, which should help with getting a new leftover '11 MY 5.0 or '11 MY WRX. The '12 Focus ST is not slated for release until early 2012 but I am guessing all the info and specs will be confirmed in the next few months.

Sorry for the Novel I just wrote... but that is my situation. Any opinions in here on the 3 options? I realize this is a mustang forum but I appreciate any unbiased information!

I got a GT Premium, Brembo for 5k off window, which means 31,180 plus 6.25 tax in TX. The same dealer usually has a base 6speed for 5k off which is 25,498 plus ttl. Grapevine Ford in Texas near DFW.

I bought a 11' GT base with 3.55 gears for approximately 29,000. I should get it on tuesday. I did look at some other vehicles and I narrowed it down to:

*11 mustang GT
*Subaru WRX

- The Subaru dealer was not willing to come down at all on the invoice and was only willing to give me 5k for my trade in (05 mustang v6 with 65,000 miles).

- Ford was willing to come down from invoice by 1500$ and give me 6k for the trade in. I took the ford deal for a couple of reasons:

* They were willing to negotate and didn't act like I was some kind of chump
* The 11 mustang is much more badass than the 11 wrx ( non sti )
* Gave me good value on my trade

So what I ended up was 23,500 ( after trade in ) before taxes and fees.

It blows my mind how much the price has gone up on GTs in the last several years. I'll admit, the stock 5.0 is a hell of a lot more car than the stock 4.6 3V, but I got a loaded out premium GT for a tad over $25,000 in '06. I wouldn't have been able to even consider a GT if prices were this high 4 years ago.

Was that price after rebates or something? i calculate a $33,900 invoice price for that setup. Just wondering since that's the exact setup I want.
