Well it's kind of crappy because you're never supposed to put a donut on a drive wheel, but if a front blows out, you have to move one of the rear wheels forward because a donut won't fit on the front wheel... kind of a crappy situation.

Frankly, IMHO if you have a blowout you call Ford and get it towed to your house / a tire shop.

I always carry a nice tire plug kit and air compressor in my trunk. As long as the puncture is in the center of the tread, a correctly applied tire plug is a permanent repair. One of my wife's Fuzion HRis has been running with a plug in it just fine for about 12,000 miles now.

I didn't really think of this before, and its kinda scary for me beacuse i travel on allegator alley all the time on my way to tampa. Its about a 1.25 hour drive across width of southern florida basically from fort lauderdale to naples... 2 lane road each way, pitch black at night, nothing in the middle but swamp land and gators... until again, you get to either side.

a nail or something small no problem, but a blow out with no spare on that stretch of road at 1AM... not exactly a good situation lol.

****, I didn't even think about the spare tire in my trunk being useless now if I got a flat on the front.

I've got brembos on the front of my '10, so I might be up a creek.

Didn't the 07 GT500's come with a spare tire? If so, we could just order one of those and have a donut that could fit over the brembos.

I don't believe the GT500s came with a spare either.

Car tire blowouts are relatively rare, as long as one purchases a good quality tire to begin with (basically, one TR and its ilk sell). I would not bother living my life in fear of a blowout, just carry a plug set with you and you should be fine.

It's not just the brakes guys... Shelby GT's didn't have a spare either, and they used standard old 12.4" front brakes.

Most blow outs these days are caused by underinflated tires. This is caused by either...

A) Carelessness of the driver (not checking their tires or paying attention)
B) A nail or something that cause the tire to go low and stay low, Again refer to A since our cars tell us "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" so unless you're a total moron/idiot you'll see it way before it becomes a major issue. that and you should at least once a week look over your tires for debris that stuck in the treads...
