You might try taking out the transmission oil stick and check the color, quantity and smell to see it is burned. Maybe the transmission is slipping.

Does it do this with Traction Control completely turned off? Hold do the TC button for about 5 seconds.. and then see if it still happens. When TC engages, it cuts power and applies the brakes to the spinning tires... even in Sport Mode.

I do think there is something wrong with your car, just don't know where to tell you to look yet. One thing you can check, open the airbox and remove the filter and look in there to see if thee is something clogging it up. I dug some leaves out of mine, i saw a post where a guy said an empty cigarette pack was in there.
The rpms its hitting are around 5500 - 6000rpm and then immediately when I take my foot off the pedal it drops to 2500 rpm immediately like it was in neutral.

Running around 5500 - 6000rpm however when you at that level and release the gas the rpm's will drop instantly to 2200 rpm as if the car was in neutral............

That sounds like the transmission is immediately upshifting, if it isnt up shifting it sounds like trans is toast.

I think you maybe onto something as I turned off TC and gave a it a run, by the time I hit 70mph i was at 7000rpm and released the pedal and immediatelly dropped to 4000rpm but I could actually here the transmission shifting down....................
