Default My first ever Drag run

Hi guys,

I have never, ever run a drag strip before, and after having read on the forum what you guys get up to on your local strips, I got a few buddies together and went to my first ever run.

Were your times on the right hand side? Either way, for your first time that's pretty good. I will bet you are addicted now, lol.

ohh, and also passangers add weight, be surprised how much 150-200lbs can do to your time.

ive been to the track so many times, dont worry about the tree, youre not bracket racing, you could literaly sit there after the light turns green then launch and still run a good time, so dont focus on that, and dont focus on the other guy, just remember youre there for YOUR time. let some air out of your tires for grip, leave your spare tire at home, go with a 1/4 of gass, and no passangers. get a 2.0 60' or les and you will run high 12's with the 3.73's it takes time to learn clutch control and shift points, but you will learn your car after a few times, be patient!

even with bad traction the trap is low. DA (weather)looked like it was fairly decent but i couldn't get an exact one for the day you ran. (cooler/dryer=better) knowing you are running about .7 and 5mph slower than you should can be a humbling experience for a first time drag racer you aren't shifting as fast you could, aren't shifting at the right points, and need practice to get the .60' down (figuring out best possible throttle position + rpm) is what your slip tells me..

Congrats on making it out though, not everyone has the guts to give it a try it'll just take practice and possibly learning to shift faster (if you aren't worried about breaking something with a mis-shift you can powershift it)
