Default Buying a custom tuner

What kind of custom tuner does all the aftermarket tuners use? Brenspeed/steeda/evolution....ect..

Next can i buy one of these tuners used from say another vehicle and upgrade it to work with my mustang?

Basically im trying to find a cheap way around to get my stang custom tuned.

I know i would still have to pay what ever company i choose for there tuning, they would be able to send it to me and update my Tuner via the computer.

But i might be able to save some money on the initial tuner if i can find one used.

Hope this was clear enough

Thanks

You can look around on the forums, Craigslist or eBay for a used SCT hand held tuner. However, you need to make sure it is unlocked, otherwise, you will have to pay to get it unlocked. From what I have read, it's a bit pricey to get it unlocked. You can order a Custom tune from AM or Brenspeed and they will email the tune to you, which you will need to upload onto the SCT tuner. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the SCT tuner on multiple cars, only one car at a time.

Or, you buy just a tuner from Brenspeed or AM/Bama and have free tunes for life. Otherwise you will be paying for a new tune everytime you need the tune updated and that will quickly negate any cost savings on the front end.

I would definitely recommend getting tunes from AmericanMuscle/BAMA. Brenspeed doesn't have free tunes for life - charged me $10.00 to update my tune when I deleted my cats via offroad X-pipe.

Visit Americanmuscle.com and Brenspeed.com. You will need to list your make/model of your car and see which SCT tuner they recommend. When you purchase a new SCT handheld tuner from either AM or Brenspeed, it will come with 3 custom tunes already loaded on it, specifically for your car. You will need to specify the octane available in your area. Example: I have 87-89-93 custom tunes. As Vista Blue stated above, Brenspeed does not offer the tunes for life, as AM does. Hope this helps!

As stated earlier, look on the AM website and locate the SCT tuner that works on your 2011 GT.

See link below.

The Handheld 3015 preloaded or 3000 custom only will be the cheapest route, the Livewire 9600, or TSX 8900 will allow on screen monitoring just more pricey
