Has anyone done this yet? I know the good and bad, but Im interested in anyones experience from this swap. This should be a big performance difference.

Performance first.Occassional 1/4 mile trips. I realize the increased rpms at hwy speed. Right now with 3.73's,in 6th, to me it seems to still be geared to the moon. Im willing to sacrifice a little for more performance. Im wondering if this will help in a 1/4 mile run. Right now I go thru the traps at 6900-7000 in 4th. So I will obviously be shifting to 5th now. Fixing to do full exhaust, no cats, Boss intake with the Steeda Boss CAI upgrade. All new rear control arms. Nitto 285 555's on the rear.

I doubt it will improve your 1/4 mile times- that extra shift uses up time.

I am actually going back down to 3.31 gears in mine. 4.56 is a little steep for mine. I ran with a guy who went down to 3.55 from 4.10's cause first gear becomes useless. for track use stick with 3.73's or go to 3.55's. Especially if you plan on major power later. over 3.73's is overkill. I went with 4.56 to experience something different. lets just say topping out 5th in a quarter is no fun.

Thanks I was kinda thinking the same thing. I wonder if going quicker thru 4 gears and having to shift into 5th if it be a wash?Meaning about the same. I think I will stay with my 3.73's. I would be happy to get my 60' down.

I have 3.73s and kind of wish I had 3.55s - make 1st gear a little more usable and easier to put the power down, and make cruising rpm a tiny bit lower. seems to be the best compromise gear.

I can't imagine 4.10's on a manual trans. that'd be nuts. good call on sticking with what ya have imo.

You wan to go from 3.73 to 4.10?? Total waste of money!!! If you had 3.15's or 3.55's even then going to 4.10 would be a world of difference nut from .73 to .10 not worth the money

First gear is next door to useless on the MT82 with 3.73s. I think 4.10 would have it move right in. I think you'd make the launch harder to achieve and add time by shifting to 5th before the stripe.

I'm going with a 28" tire on my BBP 3.73 car for the track, effectively shallowing out the rear gear, so I can do what you're doing: go through the traps in 4th. My 26" tires I have now won't let me do that, as I hit the limiter before the stripe. Launching is already hard as it is and the bigger footprint may halp me there as well, my view.

6th is a great highway fuel economy gear. You'll never make it into a speed/power gear unless you double the engine output.

I was just thinking about it. Both of my sportbikes are geared lower, one real low, like @75 mph its turning approx 6500-7000 rpm. Im gonna stick with 3.73 Im getting a nice batch of goodies installed @Steeda and that would have been a good time to do that, they have a great price on that swap. Now if I can just get in from this drilling rig in the Gulf.........
