Just got my 5.0 back from KNN r&d
Here are some pics of their new intake system they designed on my car. It should be available to purchase soon from them.

Wait a minute, instead of removing the entire sound tube, they just capped it? That's stupid. Remove that (now useless) hunk of plastic and just cap the firewall instead.
Otherwise, looks to be a pretty nice looking unit. Nice air box design, too - glad K&N adopted the velocity-stack style hookup. Does it hook up to the factory cold air inlet in the bumper?

Basically, the sound tube has two parts. One that goes from the intake to the 'baffle', and then from the 'baffle' to the interior of the car. This intake deletes the intake to 'baffle' piece, but not the 'baffle' to interior. No matter what, this intake makes the sound tube non-functional. There is therefore no reason to keep the 'baffle' to interior section with this intake, as it serves no purpose whatsoever, other than cluttering up the engine bay with it's uselessness.

Yeah, well you can't beat free, and they bought me a sct tuner. The engineer that dropped it off told me they're gonna make a lid to make it a closed box. I kinda wonder how the interior would sound if it still had the sound tube. I guess it good they didn't rip it out if I decide to go another route someday. Oh and in case you were wondering.. stupid cat ripped my firewall ;(

yeah it does look like a nice unit, and awesome that they gave you that and the tuner for free. congrats. I'm sure it's decent, it's not like the CAI adds much till you do more modding anyway (full exhaust+boss intake people see around 20-30whp gains from adding a CAI, w/o any othe rmods its more like 10-15whp)

Why would they make the owner take out something that doesn't need to come out? It would be dumb to take it all the way out in my opinion. While my car is under warranty, I'll be swapping the stock box and tune back in whenever it goes to the dealership for any recalls, tsb's, or other warranty repairs. I did the same thing with my previous mustang.
