I'm a little nervous. Hopefully someone has some good advice.

I installed a bama tune 93 race octane w/ steeda CAI about 3-4 weeks ago. Yesterday I'm driving to work and the weather has been the coldest it's been here in ATL. I think it was in the high 50s low 60s. Anyway, my Check Engine Light comes on. I was told to hook up my tuner and check for trouble codes. So I ran the Check Engine App on the tuner and got the code saying P050E.

I read that this is due to a low exhaust temp and the diagnosis can be a series of things. What the hell does this mean? I went ahead and cleared the DTC codes and the engine light is no longer illuminated.

Did clearing the code just fix whatever problem I was having? I am weary about taking my car into FORD because I'm pretty sure the warranty is not valid after the tune and intake install. if I need to take it in I will and convert back to stock.

I also noticed after clearing the code the car felt a little different - almost like it didn't have the power it once had. I didn't know if I was psyching myself out so I took her on the road a bit (even highway) and pushed her in hopes to feel any power difference. After a while, she seemed normal but I still don't know what I should do.

Does anyone have any experience with 2011 5.0 and trouble code P050E after installing their tune and CAI? I appreciate your help!

Call American Muscle and tell them whats going on. I had my check engine light come on for running too rich. They sent me a new tune to fix the problem. If you are really worried just load the stock tune on.

So I got an email from a tech guy I know who works for the Ford Dealership I bought the my car at. he says this: "My tech is stating that this code for the exhaust temp sens may be a faulty code..... diesel motors come with e.t.(exhaust temp) sensors, gas engines dont... he's not sure with the new mustangs since we dont have any come in for engine issues. If its a faulty code that means its brought on by the programer."

That's food for thought I guess....

Umm... if you got a tune and the codes came right after that... the tune being the problem should almost be a given. Not much food for thought if you ask me.

Codes often come on and off btw.
I'd definitely get a revised tune.

Tunes will not normally alter anything in the PCM related to the faults that this code represents. If you read the attached articles, they will tell you what to look for and how to correct this DTC issue. Also, please read the attached calibration TSB. If your vehicle was not calibrated according to this TSB, I would consider looking into that with your dealer.

If you notice, he stated that he had the tune on for about a month with no issues. If it were an issue with the tune, it would have presented itself immediately, not a month down the road. There is a TSB out relating to this code and it is attached below.


OP, if you complete the TSB and are still having issues, please call my Tuning Specialists, so that they may examine your calibration to make sure everything is tip-top!

I had a problem with an engine code and RPMs when we had our 06GT after installing Hot Rod Cams and a custom dyno tune two months after the Hot Rods and tune were put in.
tried all the common fix tries such as TB cleaning, CAI and MAF cleaning, etc. After that and it not being fixed a week later I took it to the tuner.

The tuner could not fix it and three weeks later I went to another dyno tuner that gave me a new tune
and fixed the problem in ten minutes.

It GREATLY surprised them too that it took so long to give me the problems given
the problem was fixed with a new tune.

Looks like you found the likely culprit for his problem though!

That's extremely unfortunate. Your tune was a little more involved, however, with the cams and stuff, so I can see the tune definitely being an issue there.

Yes, hopefully that should be the resolution!

Very true. It was more involved.
The cams often give some problems with RPMs, even surges if it is not
tuned just right. Also, my car seemed to be VERY finicky when it came to the tune, even the tuner that fixed it commented about that.
