Cold air intake

Does anyone have any suggestions for the cold air intake that suits best for 2011 GT ? It is my first Mustang car that I own and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Steeda,JLT and then the rest :)

The Steeda one is the most expensive, but I think it looks the best and appears to be well made. So that's the one that I personally will be going with soon. Between CAI's, though, none seem to have a significant advantage power wise.

Definitely going with Steeda once someone starts writing Boss tunes, I think that Track Key project has fizzled out like a bad fart. Steeda looks the cleanest to me and I had one on my 08 GT so I have faith in thier product.

Steeda, JLT, C&L, Airaid.....they are all good intakes. Just pick they one you think looks best! I personally like the painted (body color) JLT the best, so I went with that, but they all make about the same power.

This thread might be worth a look. Unbiased post by Steeda themselves. Steeda looks to be the most consistent, but they're all about the same. Like he said in the post, the JLT has a bit of loss down low but that's due to it's massive size.

I'm torn between the Steeda and JLT myself. I have a JLT on my '01 GT and it's sick to say the least.

I agree, Steeda looks like a better quality. Does anybody have experience with K&N CAI ? I called them and they said they are working on one now. Again I appreciate all your help.

The above mentioned kits are all good.

The most important part is that you choose a good tuner. Go with a known and reputable tuner, not some hack tuner. Going with a known and reputable one mitigates the risk that you would get a bad tune.

Tuner

Ford racing offers a tuner and k&n drop filter that produces 65lb torque at 1500 rpm and about 16hp peak. Have you or anybody you know used this tuner?

parchisi 09-01-2011 08:01 AM

Ford Racing tune, probably legit. But personally, I'm planning on going with a Bama tune from American Muscle. More power, free tunes for life, and from what I've seen, great customer service. They will also warranty any #8 piston issues that may be caused by the tune, an occurrence that has happened a few times with inferior tunes.
