Default Changing over to Synthetic Oil in the 5.0

Just curious if anyone who's changed over to synthetic has had the chance to see before/after dynos on similar days (temperature, etc.) and if so did you notice any HP increase they could attribute to the synthetic oil?

thx

think of oil like a condom, its more for protection then it is for performance. i would be more than surprised if you see any increases in power wit just oil. when we changed to royal purple oil and filter on when we put my supercharger on and the oil was 100+ for oil and filter. So technically i picked up well over a 100hp when i changed to synthetic . all said i suggest the switch if you drive hard and want you stuff to last. what you need to do to see the real benefits of synthetic vs regular take 2 deep frying pan and jack heat up on the stove all the way add 1-2oz of each type of oil to different pans, it will be come clear the advantages. with synthetic you wont lose hp as much toward the end of its life cycle.

The car comes stock with synthetic oil and the owner's manual tells you to put synthetic oil in the car.

Not a true synthetic, just a blended dino oil synthetic.

Yeah, stock is a synthetic blend. For the OP, the extra protection and longevity is worth going to a full synthetic for me, not performance.

Bingo, I'm running the stock dino blend until I'm out of free oil changes. Then its synthetic from here on out. Still have several bottles of 5w20 Mobil1 EP left from my 05. Nice that they use the same oil.

I concur with the other replies.
Full synthetic for performance gains? Umm NO.. hehee.

For protecting the engine. perrrrrhaaaaaaaaaps.

The GT500 uses full synthetic from the factory though.
I've heard some people say they like to stay with Motorcraft fully synthetic which is what Ford uses from the factory.

Then I have had others screaming Motorcraft is is crap compared to some other brands.
I haven't seen any proof of that though.
Post away with replies on this folks. I'd like to hear some input on THIS forum where I know the members instead of "strangers" on other forums
where I have no idea if they know their asses from their elbows.

A friend of mine told me I should wait a little bit before converting over to full synthetic.. anyone understand the reasoning?

Used to be that you should run regular dino oil for a while on a brand new engine so the engine can break in. Synthetic they say is too slippery and won't let the moving parts wear into each other. I don't think that's the case anymore though.
