5.0 Using Oil
My 2011 GT is using a quart of oil per 1500 miles. It has 4600 miles on it. Is anyone else experiencing this problem.? No oil spots or leakage that I can find. I assume the best course of action is to take it back. I'm afraid they will tell me that it is normal. Thanks for any response.

From what I understand from my research, this is normal, expecially from the passenger side PCV. The oil is going into the intake. 100% normal...though I'm not a fan of oil in my intake manifold, it should be oil VAPOR, not oil. Catch can will eliminate the oil in the manifold, though there isn't much to do about the oil lose at the time. This, again, is from my research on the 5.0L Coyote. You could always take it in and see what the techs will say.

I'm no expert but that seems like a lot of oil every 1500 miles.

I have 2700 miles on mine and I have used just over a quart in mine.

Mine used a qt+ of oil in the first 5000 miles. Since then...not a drop. Seems to be the nature of the beast.

This is normal to a point. Its normal for the first couple thousand, but should taper off. Just keep checking it now that you know the car is doing this and maybe get a JLT catch can for the passenger side PCV. |
If it keeps up then I'd say its a considerable amount of oil burnt. Keep an eye on things and change the oil as needed until then.

I've been told this is normal for a new car, mine used about a quart in the first 2500 miles.

Thanks all for your help. I will stop worrying about it and monitor.
