Hard start this morning and loud knocking
#12
Umm what? That's exactly what it is. That's why after a couple of seconds it goes away --BECAUSE IT BUILDS UP OIL PRESSURE!
#13
OP have you done anything to resolve this issue..Do you still have stock oil filter or an aftermarket one?..
If you still have orig filter get to your dealer ASAP... if you don't, get one and install it and if problems continues get to dealer asap..

Okay, so I'm not getting all this discussion on oil and oil filters.
What does the oil filter and possible drain back to the pan have to do with my issue? I had good oil pressure according to the gauge (does the car have idiot lights also?). Also, how does lubrication issues relate to the extremely rough idle, as if only running on some of the cylinders?
My dealer does free oil changes every 5000. My car was in about three weeks ago for an oil change (the first) and everything was fine until last weekend. I've been driving the car all week and no repeat issues at all.

If you do no have oil pressure on first start-up you are going to hear a lot of noises because oil pressure has not built up yet especially the lifters (Rough start), rods and mains (banging noise)....This is not rocket science..
If you oil drains back into your oil pan you will not have oil pressure for several seconds...I don't know if this is your problem or not but based on your first post it appears that is your problem...do you anything about car engines? If all is OK then don't worry about it. You know when you made your first post you seemed very concerned.. Now you don't seem so concerned...If you are very concerned you would get back to the forum as soon as you could..We're her to help each other (most of the time) but we can't without feedback...

It takes time for the oil to circulate to the various parts of the engine, especially you have not driven it for some time in cold weather. Synthetic oil would help in this case because it would lubricate better than dyno oil and it sticks to the engine parts better than dyno oil.

I think you are trying to be helpful.
I overhauled my first motor in' 75.
I don't believe lack of oil pressure can cause misfires on startup, try to explain that to me.
The car is going to the dealer in the morning
