Actually, I don't think my motor has lifters, it has over head cams. I suspect noise was generated somehow in cam/variable valve train timing ckt, which would explain miss as well.

Oil and filter just changed a couple of weeks before this? I'm assuming the dealer used Ford parts.

I think you are trying to be helpful.

I overhauled my first motor in' 75.

I don't believe lack of oil pressure can cause misfires on startup, try to explain that to me.

The car is going to the dealer in the morning
Hard starts and Knocking....That was your first post and that is what we are talking about...misfires are a different matter...Get back to us when you get back from dealer..curious to see what caused the misfire...All we are trying to do is to educate you before your dealer says "normal operating characteristic"...Sorry if you are offended just tring to help. That is why you posted in the first place right?

As stated in my original post the engine was running very rough, actually I didn't use the word misfire, but it seemed to me to be firing on less than 8 cylinders.

No offense taken. Thanks, help is good, I was mainly looking for anyone with direct experience with what occurred with my car. I know how to deal with "that's just normal"... heck, I own a Harley too so I hear that all the time.

Be aware that this should change your strategy code if the dealer performs this.
