Anyone considering a Boss Intake, please read this first

I have to admit, that I was concidering that upgrade in the near future until I saw an episode of Two Guys Garage in which they installed Roush Intake. I thought I'd get that one. But I don't do quarter mile, I do however race my friend from time to time against his C5 he keeps Modding so I add **** to mine to stay ahead. Half the time I don't know what I'm doing. That's why these threads are educational, atleast for me.

Here is a link to a post I made over on Allfords about my Boss install. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...-5th-gear.html

So you're telling me that the intake off the car with less torque because of the intake that was meant for a racetrack, not the drag strip doesn't perform as well at the sport in which torque is more important than almost any other engine metric?
No ****in' way. Sad that you had to lose $$$ to figure that out - I could've told you that months ago.

Good point about the deeper rear gear part. Since the Boss intake manifold shifts the torque curve to the right some on a dyno graph, it only makes sense to operate your car closer to redline.
Speaking about redline, are you using a tune that increases your redline to 7500?
If so, what is the torque like at that lat 500RPM bandwidth? Does it help in allowing you to hold onto a gear a little longer before shifting to the next gear?

Hey Guys,
I don't want to hi jack the post but we have seen some great gains with our Boss intake with our CAI, Tune, and stock exhaust. The gains were very noticeable. Here is our Dyno sheet with all the mention parts.
Expect peak power gains in excess 50 horsepower over a stock GT on stock exhaust. With the Boss intake top end power never falls off, giving you a car that just keeps pulling hard shift after shift.
Just wanted to give you guys a piece of mind if you are considering the intake.

ive had this conversation with a few people. i don't think most folks will miss the 10 wtq you lose, you will feel the power up top though. i still think most of the benefit for this is road course guys since as you can see the peak power is very flat through a wide range all the way to redline. flat power and torque curves are betting for road course work than peaky curves.
