i found the instant mpg meter to be almost dead on. it said i averaged 16.5 mpg. when i filled up and divided miles by gallons filled, it came to 16.7 . pretty good to me.

good grief where/how are you driving to get 16 mpg?
I am somewhat skeptical about the meter, given that the miles to empty can be at zero and the highest i have gotten the pump to is 14 gallons. This is assuming the two systems are using the same sensor set.

I have 11,500 miles on my GT (with optional .373 gears). I average 13.2 MPG for combined city/hwy. On the interstate, with cruise control, I am lucky to get approximately 19 mpg.

You must have more of a lead foot than me. How fast are you usually going on the interstate? I've got the same set up as you and I will set the cruse anywhere from 80-85 mph on the interstate and avg about 22 mpg.
