Default Lowering the Stang ?????

Okay, i was reading another thread this morning about adding 1.5" drop springs. I didint want to crap in his thread so i started my own.

What all is needed to drop the 5.0? I was under the impression that i could get away with just swaping out the springs?

I just want a better stance for when i put GT500 rims on the car. I dont want alot, just enought to make it look good.

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

You can just do the springs, and get an adj panhard bar, this will re center the axle.

I installed steeda sport springs on mine and an adjustable panhard bar. I love it.

Why do you have to adjust the panhard bar? Is this something i do myself or have an alignment shop do? How much does a adjustable panhard bar run?

adjustable panhard bars seem to run around 120$ and up. after you lower the car, the rear axle will shift slightly. you'll be able to see the difference on one side of the car (wheel) sticking out further then the other. the panhard bar allows you to recenter the axle.

this is different on every car. you can always lower it, inspect it, and then buy a panhard bar if the difference is large enough to bother you

How do the stock shocks hold up to the additional compression?

Springs, panhard bar, and possibly camber bolts. I purchased everything from BMR and did my own alignment with nothing more than a straight edge and digital level while using the camber bolts.

Lowering springs are all you "need" to lower the car. http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-e...prings-05.html

Of course, we strongly recommend the adjustable panhard bar because the rear end shifts over toward the driver's side when you lower the car. You can measure/adjust it with a homemade plumb bob.

I didn't buy the pan bar and the alignment shop was able to correctly align my car to stock form with help from the camber bolts. Maybe I just got lucky.

Read this link for a watts link from steeda. Not saying to buy the product, but it has a great explanation for what the panhard bar does from which you can figure out why an adjustable one is/might be needed.
