"Built Motor" what is it exactly?
 
So I've always thought that a built motor consisted of forged rods, rings, block, and pistons. But now I'm not to sure. I just joined, don't have a mustang yet, but will be buying one in a year as my graduation gift. I plan on getting a lease return 2012 gt or a used 2012 gt. The ultimate plan is to mod mod mod. I want to achieve ~800hp at the wheels. Here is how I'm going to do it. I won't be running as much boost as they are obviously. It won't be a track car so I figured a 3.55 instead of the 3.73 ratio would be best. So what am I looking at on the motor to handle all the boost that'll be thrown it's way..ie, the "built motor" ?

it's not a track car and u wanna put 800hp on the wheel?that's too much for a street car.

I have one question, have you ever driven a car with 800hp around town, or in bumper to bumper traffic?, and why is a 3.55 ring gear better than a 3.73 on an 800hp car?

No no, buy a used car something like a lease return.

3.55 cause with ~800hp I won't need aggressive gearing since this isn't going to be a drag car.

This is a built engine:

It does not have the cams or head port work as the TKB engine, but you get hbeam true forged conrods and lower cr forged pistons. I think they are dished too. If so, you run less risk of hitting the valves with higher lift cams.

The lower geometric (static) cr also allows for much higher boosts

All 3.55:1 rear gears are going to do is kill your torque at the pavement. Less torque means less HP at the tires.

Going with shallower gears gives better gas mileage , better top speed, and it tames wheel slip for non-slick tires.

But onederful has a point. Killing HP at the wheels with shallower gears is counterproductive.
Unless his goal is to have a top speed machine in which he needs the power to fight wind resistance.
