I have 3.73s in my 5.0 and love it. Traction is excellent and gas mileage strictly depends on how you drive. Like the above post, 3.31 are a great highway gear. With my 3.73s I am around 2100 RPMS at the 70 MPH area.... have to do 60-65 to maintain 20+ MPG.
Get them
IMO - 3.73s are a great all around gear. My first mod on both previous mustangs were 3.73 FRPP gears.
Factory install also means no tuner required to fix SPEEDO - just in case you decide to change down the road.

I prefer the 3.31 for DD. The extra gas adds up over time. I also don't take the car to a drag strip so I can't take advantage of the 3.73 ratio. However for all the extras you get with the track pack I would recommend it. Upgraded cooling, differential, and the Brembos make it worth it. I wish I had gotten Brembos, but it was out of my budget and I didnt order it to spec anyway.

3.73 here and love them. And I had 3.55 in the 2 previous gt's I had. But if u intend to use the stang as a dd and u drive a lot per month then the 3.31 will be better on mpg's. But the acceleration is nowhere near as fun. Lol

Before I bought my Mustang I was wondering the same thing. Go with the 3.73 Limited Slip Rear and you won't regret it!
Here's a link to my thread pertaining the same topic...we had a huge consensus that if you're looking purely for performance advantages...3.73's are the way to go!

I got the 3:73 and have no regrets. It can accelerate in a hurry and the trac/stability control software does a great job at keeping the car from fishtailing if you decide to drive aggressively. Also, as it effectively brings the gears closer together with respect to speed, I rarely use 2nd gear.

I wish I didn't have the 3.31's. Probably upgrading soon. I'm trying to decide between the 4.11 and 3.73's. The highway speed limit is 75mph between here and Denver though, and usually end up doing around 80-85mph...so that worries me.
