Default Popping noise upon clutch release

Anyone else experiencing a popping noise when releasing the clutch, particularly in first gear from a dead stop? My dealer is telling me it is normal noise from the clutches in the "high-performance" rear-end. To me it sounds like something is loose. To clarify, this is not the normal cluncking you hear at low speed in the driveline. I have a 2012 GT with the Brembo Brake Package with 11,000mi on the clock. Noise started a couple thousand miles ago.

From Fords response to NHTSA investigation:

Clutch Plate Bolt Problems:

A number of reports identified by Ford alleged increasing difficulty selecting gears over time, along with clutch noise and clutch performance degradation. Investigation of these reports identified grinding or “notchy” gears that were found to be caused by clutch fasteners that had worked loose during vehicle operation. An investigation into the root of the cause identified an issue with the fastener/joint design at the clutch to flywheel interface that was exacerbated by the higher transmission input speeds provided by the new engines.

Solution:

A revised fastener was designed and put into production October 19, 2010. The revised fastener was concurrently made available for service and a special service message (21614) was issued to aid technicians in identifying the concern.

The dealer is claiming that it is normal driveline backlash that I am hearing and that it is normal since the trans is shifting smooth. When I asked why the noise wasn't present for the first 9,000mi I had the car, they told me that's because it wasn't broken in yet. Guess I am going to have to wait till it gets worse or breaks before they will do anything further. What concerns me is that the clutch is only covered for 12/12000, if that is the component causing the noise.....

I thought standard warranty is 36/36k bumper to bumper. I guess I'll double check my manuals. Where are you getting that info?

Hi Don,

Dealer told me 12mo/12k. I didn't look it up in the manual to verify, but wear items like brakes, clutch, tires, wipers, etc. are usually only covered for a year or 12k....it's probably in some really small print somewhere, however, given the issues with these clutches and transmissions, I'm sure Ford will make some exceptions.....

I will do my best not to sound ignorant here, but isn't the clutch part of the drive train? So, wouldn't that mean that it would have the 5yr/60,000? Doesn't make to much sense to have a brand new car's clutch fail at 20,000 miles and you have to buy the new one. I mean it shouldn't be an issue getting 50K+ out of a clutch but i always enjoy the peace of mind.

PS: Please don't burn me if I am off base =)

Maybe off the subject at hand -- but I'm also experiencing a popping sound but, mine appears to be coming towards the rear of the car. When, I'm downshifting at a higher RPM for ex. from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd.. Now, if I take it easy with the RPM's I don't hear it.
