Yeah, GM has been doing it for a while. It's a PITA for sure. Glad my '13 doesn't have it.

Not to be ignorant, but what is skip shift and how does it work/what purpose does it serve?

Glad my dad's 13 doesn't have it! That car shifts like butter. I'm really impressed by the MT82 trans so far.

Under certain conditions your car will force you to shift to 4th gear when coming out of 1st. It is supposed to be a fuel saving kind of thing. To me it is just out right stupid because you are bogging down forth when it occurs. With me I could never get it to happen 2 times in a row. It almost caused me to have a wreck twice in the first week I owned it. Your car will just fall on it's face when you least expect it. For a short term fix I just unplugged it, wrapped it, and tied it out of the way from the solenoid. The proper cure for it is a tune that deletes that. That is next on my agenda.

I have never had that problem with my 2012. It always pops up to shift from 1st to 4th but I just ignore it and go to 2nd with no issue. Ive never felt it try to force me into shifting into 4th gear. My car is all stock w/ no tune with the exception of my flowmaster exhaust.

Solution is to not lollygag while in 1st. It's gone now because of my tune, but it never bothered me either as long as I drive it the way it's meant to be driven ... like I stole it!!!

I tuned mine, and that just did away with the stupid skip shift. Next thing is to get rid of the stupid factory shifter. Worse than a stick in a bucket of grease.

I dislike it and disabled it too, but it was not difficult to avoid triggering if you understood what triggered it.

I just unplugged mine last Sat, best mod ever! I hated that skip-shift, and I could swear it DOES shift better, but I still have the 2-3 shift problem...
