Washer wiper timing issue

Washer wiper timing issue
So my new 2012 has the push in button to clean the windshield. My issue is the blades make at least one cycle dry before any fluid comes out. So the blades are dragging dry, wearing the blades and not doing the windshield any good. The wash reservoir is full and when it does engage, it is a full consistent pattern.
Every other car I have had with this feature the fluid starts before the blades move or they start at same time. How about the rest of you?
Thanks

Welcome to American car ownership. If this is your biggest concern, I'd say you're doing well.
living on a rain coast, I'd rate the wipers and attendant technologies as fair on this car. Too much blade chatter for me, no auto wipe.
The only "solution" to your issue is to fit squirters that are one-way, to stop the fluid rolling back down the lines.

This is normal.
Owners Manual pg 70:
Windshield washer: Press the end
of the stalk:
• briefly: causes a single swipe of
the wipers without washer fluid.
• a quick press and hold: the
wipers will swipe three times with
washer fluid.
• a long press and hold: the wipers
and washer fluid will be activated
for up to ten seconds.
