Same thing on my 2012. Remote location. Everything sits forward of what you would expect. When you pull the center console trim and remove all of the sound deadening material, you are looking at the drive shaft and companion flange of the transmission. When you drop the shifter it sets on the drive shaft. I will have to say that I have only noticed slighly more nvh in 6th gear. More than likely that is due to the fact that I cannot hear the gear noise in 1st - 5th over my exhaust. IMHO Ford really missed the mark with this design. Prior to the current design they were all trans mounted shifters. You could not miss a gear if you tried.

You can if you put it in a truck lol. No power shifting in this thing.

My site welding truck at the plant is the same way! 10 speed Fuller Roadranger. The transmission is right underneath my right foot. No power shifting is an understatement.

Hey Y'all, I'm trying to start a 2012 Lava Red Metallic Mustang Registry group on facebook. It is my first try at something like this and I need other owners to join and share so it will be a success. Please check it out and spread the word. Thanks, Steve. https://www.facebook.com/groups/341259305977447/
