I'm new to the forum so I hope I've got this in the right section.

Anyway, I have a 2012 GT 'vert that I bought new a few months ago and have noticed a vibration or shimmy when I get above 55mph or so. It's done this since I picked it up but I thought it might work itself out after a few miles which it hasn't so I took it to the dealer yesterday. They did a wheel re-balance which did not fix the problem.

I did some research last night and came up with quite a few threads on this and other sites that talk about this exact problem with 2010 and newer cars but nobody seems to know exactly what the issue is or the solution. Lots of re-balances, tire/wheel swaps, driveshaft work etc but no solutions. The latest I read about was an issue with EPAS and a TSB for GT500's for a vibration issue.

I love my 'stang but I need to get this fixed so if anybody has any updated info on this issue I'd love to hear it before I go back to the dealer.

I'd have the Ford dealership do a RoadForce balance and I'd insist that it be at no-charge. The RoadForce will not only balance but it can also detect tire and wheel problems. Hopefully it's a simple balance problem. Then I'd go from there.

if they are unable to rebalance the tires properly perhaps you have a tire with a flaw that cannot be balanced (had this happen to me in 2010 with a new Camaro)

are they road-force balancing or just balancing? a road force balance may be the ticket.

keep pushing for them to figure it out - this is not your problem to figure out. if that dealership is wasting your time take it to a different one.

Thanks. It goes back to the dealer next week for round two so we'll see what they want to do next. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect my new Mustang to ride as smooth as my 12 year old 3/4 ton pickup.

had the same issue with my 2013 but I knew I was soon going to upgrade to a different set of rims/tires. When I did my problem was fixed. ofcourse I did my upgrade after 2wks so I thought if it were just off balanced tires/wheels I wouldnt deal with it long. As above make them Roadforce balance.

Had a road force balance done yesterday and that seems to have fixed the problem. Good advice, thanks.
