Default Tracked It! (2013 GT)

OK so I went to the track. The car did great, that motor is just so good. Brakes did great Brembo’s with ATE super-blue fluid and Hawk-Plus pads all around. Suspension did good, it does have roll, but I can fix that. The one thing that was a weak point was at the end of the run I started to get gear lock-out from the trans, other than that the car did real well. I am now looking for fixes for the lock-out, (I have a MGW shifter that is great and I am running ATE as mentioned before) I am looking at steel lines and MTL trans fluid. I don’t track it enough to do a clutch until the stocker is dead.

What he said. I also love what you've done to your car.

Thanks, there were three Ferrari’s that day, two were full race cars and ran in a different group and man they were fast. The other, the one in the pic was the daily drive of one of the guys with the race cars, must be nice, he did not track it. I did run with some 911’s, GT3, AMG 63, McLaren, Boss, other stangs and a GTR.

Here is the race one:

is the lockout situation due to a cooling issue?

I have done a lot of things to fix the lockout; there have been many threads talking about the problem, so far I have not seen one answer. For me, everyone’s different, I changed the shifter to MGW, big improvement, then the brake fluid, big improvement, disable skip shift, removed helper spring, learned to work with the shifter (it has a very small window and needs to be shifted direct and in alignment when you shift), its fussy. This fixed the lockout on up shifting, now on the track I was getting it on down shifting after temps were very high. Now the lockout is not the only problem, also there is the sinking plead which if not fixed makes you get more lockout, that is caused by the centrifugal force of the clutch at high RMP, BOSS and GT with tunes. These two problems work with each other to make you miss gears. 95% of the time the car shift great, it’s only on the track at high RMP downshifting that the problem is showing back up for me. Before the mention fixes I did, I would get it all the time. Now I think I am looking at a temp problem and going to change the trans fluid and lines, the clutch its self should probably be upgraded but I don’t track that often for that. As it stands now, on the street I have no problem, half was the trans and half was me leaning how to work with it.

looking at your posts, I would say the steel braided clutch line will help alot. That was my problem at the Drag strip. After some hot laps or even a hot day and decent burnout, the factory line gets hot which allows it to swell under pressure. a steel braided line will not have that problem.

I was having a similar lockout symptoms until my clutch blew. I had terrible shifting for quite a while and after my new clutch installed I have zero issues. Shifts better than stock and wish I did it sooner. Don't know if yours is going but possibility I reckon.
