Hard Shifting From 1st to 2nd?
I have a 2012 GT, 6 spd, with an aftermarket hurst shifter. When I accelerate hard it has a hard time shifting from 1 to 2....as if 2nd is "locked out." Anyone have this issue? Suggestions?

I got the same problem on my 11 GT stock, im veteran stick shift driver, but sometimes i feel that i change the gear before the clutch engage, im not sure if im the problem or the gears.

I swapped out my transmission lube to Redline MTL. Helped quite a bit. I also changed the shifter to an MGW. It replaces the entire shifter. Box, rear supports and all. I am not sure what all the Hurst replaces. I am a veteran manual driver as well. IMHO a hydraulic clutch just does not give you the feel the good old mechanical clutches did. Everything has gone hydraulic though. It is what it is.

The issue is likely your shifter and the stock fluid.
I had the same issue with both of my MT82's. On the second I swapped out the fluid for Amsoil MTG which helped a little. After installing an MGW shifter, all notchiness/shift issues were resolved and I've began to like these transmissions.

Agreed with the posts above to change the tranny fluid. Ford even issued a TSB to change the fluid to address this rough shifting.
If you don't want to change the fluid yourself, you can take it to the dealer during your next oil change or whatever, and ask them to change the fluid as per the TSB for the MT82 gearboxes.

I have the same year and shifter as you and the same issue also, let me know if you find a good fix.

Which shifter do you have? If you can provide a link, I would like to see what all the shifter came with.
