We can run 10-30 in our cars? Why would Ford suggest 5-20 then? Just for the 1% increase in fuel economy or what?

Although I've owned well over a dozen vehicles and at least 8 of those being purchased new, I can only ASSUME that oil consumption is normal on a new vehicle. Of those 12+ vehicles, I only had one that consumed oil between oil changes beginning around 120,000 miles and that was MY fault for using Fram's "rag-in-a-can" oil filters. But even my last 6 vehicles that I used full syn with oil changes at 8,000 - 10,000 mile intervals didn't use any oil to speak of.

I've heard that most new engines will use oil as the rings seat themselves but I've never witnessed it.

The Coyotes consume a lot of oil. Add a UPR catch can and you'll be blown away by how much oil vapor it traps!
