Default Tune without CAI or other mods

I see the tuner on American muscle says it can free up approx 31 hp 37 torque, this is for the tuner alone , no CAI.

I like the stock CAI since the filter is so easy to change.

If the tune alone is worth 31 hp 37 torque, thats pretty nice. No parts to install or anything. I may get this tuner.

Anyone else get a tune without other mods? Any better tuner option?

Also, would a tune account for a aftermarket axleback mufflers? It may have quite a bit less backpressure compared to the stock chambered mufflers.

you will get little improvement out of the axlebacks. I would'nt count on more than 3hp.

I would definitely recommend the tuner & CAI to be the first mod to do. You will only gain HP out of either or both of them if you run higher octane. 93 ideally, or 91 if you area doesn't offer race gas.

Good choice on the PSS !

ps: on aftermarket CAIs the filter is even easier to change.

Once you get a tuner you will NEVER go back

I had too once go from
Steeda 101mm Intake
Roush Axleback
Bama 93 Race tune

to stock for 1 day as I didnt have laptop so had to preset my tuner and drive across the city with stock tune with the intake and axleback and I felt like I was driving a damn Corolla. After Xpipe /w cat deletes was installed i immediately went to Bestbuy to get a laptop so I never have to endur that pain of running stock tune ever again

With an 11+ GT Mustang, you'll definitely notice huge gains from a Tune and CAI or even just a CAI. Those gains are 100% accurate and we've seen it over and over again on our in house dyno!

For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Hahaha, race gas. You're not calling 93 octane race gas correct?

A tune is a great start since you need that for several other mods to work.
Another good place to start is your suspension, very noticeable in daily driving and helps extend the extreme limits of the cars handling.

Tuner arrives today, I went with 91 octane tunes just to be safer since i dont really know how good the gas around here is. Gas stations say its 93 octane with 10% ethanol. For the race tune i did put 93 octane. Ill probably be using the 91 performance tune on the street though.

So no mods except axlebacks and a 91 octane tune , Ill let you all know how much of a difference it makes. And if its not enough i may buy an Airaid CAI - unless thats not the best brand?

From everything that I have read, you don't gain much with a cold air intake. The car comes factory with a cold air intake. You will gain just about as much without the intake. The tune is where the magic happens.

As for the brand of CAI, I have seen charts that basically say they are all equal and it is pretty much personal preference.

You will only see that much hp if you are going from 87 stock to 93 tuned. You will only get about 15rwhp from tune going from 93 to 93. You may see another 10-15 rwhp on dyne from CAI. The only thing is they run much hotter on the street. 85 degree weather the stock inlet will be about 100 degrees, a aftermarket open end filter about 160 degrees.
