Default changed out my shifter bushing.

So i finally got around to swapping it out today. I just used teh Energy suspension one to see how much improvement that makes to see if i need the Barton bracket. I will say WTF are they thinking with the stock unit. Its like mashed potatoes. Cheese is stiffer then this thing. Was a quick easy job especially if you can get car on a lift. I havnt got on the car hard but it feels like it changes 1-2 better and 2-3 less notchy feel like its catching edges. Was worth the $16 price tag

quick video showing how mushy the stock unit is

what i replaced mine with
Amazon.com: Energy Suspension 4-1134G Shifter Bushing Set for Ford Mustang: Automotive Amazon.com: Energy Suspension 4-1134G Shifter Bushing Set for Ford Mustang: Automotive

was a cheap replacement to see what kind of difference it makes before deciding if I need the Barton 2 post bracket or not.

So this just replaces the bushing? The Barton replaces the whole bracket with the bushing?

yea this just goes into the stock bracket. Just pull out rubber one and slide this one in and bolt up. It seems to have made the shifter a little less sloppy and slides into 2nd and 3rd easier

How rigid is the stock bracket? Looks almost like bent high gauge sheet metal.

the stock bracket has decent amount of strength to it. I wouldnt say its as strong as those solid billet brackets like the barton. but for $16 to make a difference in the shifter so far was worth it to me. if I end up getting the barton shifter I will most likely swap over to the 2 post then but for now this seems to have made things better

I did the same thing. I have had it for 10K miles and its a world of difference over stock. I also switched the shifter to SR Short-throw shifter. I like the combo, and I see no reason to upgrade to 2 post bracket at this time.

Looks like the stock bushing is attached with zip ties. Does the new bushing install the same way?

I also made this change. The shifting was dramatically less sloppy. Energy Suspension product. I will not be bothering with a new shifter know.

The stock bushing is indeed a joke. Especially comical was the Factory use of zip ties to keep the bushing in place. Why does Ford think buyers want a shifter with less feel and sloppy shifting?

I am also planning to install the Whiteline transmission mount bushing. Another cheap and effective solution but folks say added NVH with this product.
